Of Liberals and Conservatives

It amazes me how I can read a blog post or article and see one point oh, so clearly. And a liberal can read the same article and see something oh, so different.

I read a liberal’s blog post about how police officials turn a blind eye to the sex slaves in San Diego, thereby giving their tacit approval, because they won’t raid the encampments.

Yet, I read the same inflammatory post, based on an unlinked article, and what I “see” is that the San Diego Police would be accused of racism, xenophobia and “racial profiling” if they raided those same encampments, displacing those poor, suffering migrant workers.

What is it about a report of a brutal and horrific rape of a lesbian in San Francisco that leads a liberal to label it a hate crime against a sexual orientation, and yet I see so clearly the violence resulting from an illegal immigration policy which has run amok?

And I think my husband and I were the only ones on the 10 Freeway who saw the irony of a liberal’s car bumper, which included: “It’s never okay to hit a child” and “Keep Abortion Legal.”

When I compare the logic patterns of liberals and conservatives, I am so glad I fall in the latter category.

• Liberals only seem to have compassion for criminals, whom they'd rather view as victims.
• They safely proclaim, from their perches high above the cities ghettos, that they know the answer to the ills of the poor: more entitlements.
• Studies of tax returns show that it is conservatives and religious individuals who contribute most to charitable organizations.
• Liberals have turned the economic crisis around and can only seem to blame the Bush administration, and not the greed of all the individuals involved, from Wamu who knowingly approved bad mortgages, to those who invested millions with Madoff.

Yes, when it comes to liberals and conservatives, I find that logic and compassion are always on my side.

I’m calling BS on Obama is a loving grandson story

While on vacation this week in Hawaii, President-elect Barack Obama has scattered his grandmother’s ashes in his own “private” memorial service.

Obama is portrayed by our media as a loving grandson, jetting to his grandmother’s side in the last weeks of her life, tossing her ashes in the ocean in the same spot where he honored his mother.

Obama's grandmother died on November 2, just two days before he was elected the first African-American president of the United States. Obama had rushed to his grandmother's side two weeks before she died, fearing she would not witness
what became his victory.

"She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility," Obama said in a joint statement with his sister in November.

"She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances ... Our debt to her is beyond measure."

Sorry Obama-rama fans. I’m calling BS on this loving grandson story. I am appalled and disgusted that our commander-in-chief was incapable of being the comforter-in-chief for his own family in the weeks following his grandmother’s death.

Where was he during the memorial service held for her in November? The one attended by her friends and her community. The campaign was over, he was elected president, and he had no particular plans that week. He was, after all, the in-coming most powerful man in the western world. I think he could have cleared his schedule to help honor the woman who “poured everything she had into me."

When did we run out of dead presidents and patriots?

I heard a report this morning so obscene that had to be true. I live in the City of Angels, after all.

The daily fish-wrap is reporting that The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is selling the naming rights to the new downtown arts high school.

Here are the buildings available for naming, and the amount the school hopes to receive for each:

School - $25 million
Theater - $5 million
Dance program - $2 million
Drama program - $2 million
Music program - $2 million
Administration building - $2 million
Visual arts building - $2 million
Library - $3 million
Amphitheater - $1 million
Black box theater - $1 million

LAUSD has banned selling a can of cola, to protect the health of the children, but they do not seem to have a problem selling out the children a la Staples Center, Home Depot Center, Disney Concert Hall, etc.

Maybe I’m starting to show my age, but there was a certain pride in being a Hamilton Yankee, a Kennedy Cougar, or a Lincoln Tiger.

Who wouldn’t be excited to cheer for Roosevelt High – home of the Rough Riders?

So, what are they going to call these poor kids?

• The CitiBank Bailouts?
• The Wachovia Bankruptcies?
• The AIG Cash-Cows?
• The GM Money Grubbers?

What did Rahm Emanuel do and when did he do it?

Are we really surprised that Rahm Emanuel and the Office of the President-Elect might actually be tied to Chicagoland-style dirty politics?

The New York Times headline today screams: Emanuel Had Contact With Governor’s Office on Senate Seat

The Chicago Tribune reported that communications between Mr. Emanuel and the governor, both Democrats, had been captured on court-approved wiretaps, but Obama associates gave conflicting accounts of the interactions.

Obama aides have said privately that Mr. Emanuel did not engage in any deal-making with Mr. Blagojevich, whom federal prosecutors charged last week with conspiring to turn a profit from the appointment.

Well, I suppose time will tell what Emanuel knew and what his role was in the attempted sale of the Illinois Senate seat vacated by Mr. Obama, not to mention the president-elect himself.

But considering that Mr. Emanuel has already found his way to Cheney’s secret underground bunker, we might already know the answer.

If you lay down with dogs, you’ll wake up with fleas

The presidential inauguration is more than a month, and yet president-elect Obama is surrounded by more corruption, scandals and crooks than Bill Clinton was after 8 years in office.

The latest accuasations surround Governor Rod Blagojevich. Blago is accused of trying to sell Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat. Blago has ties to Tony Rezko, another cohort of President-elect Obama.

During the campaign, the Republicans (too late in my opinion) tried to raise the issue of character where Mr. Obama was concerned.

Character counts. Who you associate with, counts. Who you are friends with, counts. Where you attend church, and who your pastor is, counts.

It comes down to 7th grade algebra.

If A = B and B = C, than A = C.

President-elect Obama is a product of the Chicago machine. The Chicago political machine is corrupt. Therefore President-elect Obama is corrupt.

Just wait and see ......
