Maxine Waters + Socialism = Hugo Chavez

Wow. Sorry if you're the guy on the 10 I almost side-swiped after listening to Maxine "the word you're looking for is Nationalism" Waters. Obviously that "liberal" is just another Socialist. May I recommend emigrating to Venezuela?

Oh, stop your whining already

Is it just me, or is everyone whining these days, and not just my kids.

People can't afford their mortgages.

• well, you shouldn't have bought a house to flip that you couldn't afford. Just ask Representative Laura "deadbeat" Richardson.

People can't afford health insurance.

• Get a job that provides it. Heck, Starbucks provides health insurance for goodness sake.

Gas is sooo expensive.

• Give up your double mochas, or cut back on eating out. I did the math. It's costing me $100 more a month to drive my Aviator. Guess what we're doing ... giving up eating out a couple times a month. Bam. Family of four saves $100. I don't see the headlines on that one.
• Move to Europe and sob to me about gas prices. Europe is paying 2-3 times what we are, always have, always will.

Be grateful that we don't live in China where the walls literally came tumbling down killing (officially) more than 41,000 people. and leaving more than 5 million people homeless. The Northridge earthquake we had in LA back in '94 killed 72 people, but the redevelopment turned Ventura Blvd. into a cool place to hang out.

Be grateful that we don't live in Myanmar where (officially) more than 134,000 people have died or are missing from the recent Cyclone, due mostly to the corruption of the Junta government and their inability to keep their grubby hands off the emergency aid. Hurricane Katrina took the lives of less than 2,000 across both Louisiana and the Gulf states.

Since when is life supposed to be pain and discomfort free. I believe that the "Greatest Generation" were those who grew up and came of age during the Great Depression. Maybe a little bit of pain will turn these whiners into men and women.

We cannot allow this city and it's officials to turn their backs on the law-abiding citizens, all in the name of political correctness. It is our responsibility to show support for the Shaw family and be there to honor their son in a ceremony this Saturday, May 10th.

Please, Throw the Baby Out With the Bathwater

LAUSD is up to their old shenanigans. Between the lead in the water fountains, transfering known assistant principals who are molesting our kids, and their inability to graduate kids ... now we find out that Tony V's shill is really running LAUSD.

Less than two years into the tenure of Los Angeles Unified Superintendent David
Brewer III, all responsibilities for day-to-day operations at the district
have quietly been shifted to a veteran educator who has been a key adviser to
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Under the shift, all of the LAUSD's top senior personnel now report directly to Ramon Cortines, who played a crucial role in the mayor's efforts to reform the district and who now will report on district operations to Brewer.

Please, let's just throw the baby out with the bathwater and start over.

Districts should be limited to 2-4 high schools, and the feeder middle and elementary schools. Pali & Uni, Hami & Venice, LA & Fairfax.

Maybe if parents had a tie to their community, a tie to their schools, if the busing stopped, maybe the parents and teachers would actually get to know one another, the principals and administrators would not be strangers. There would be REAL accountability. The red-tape would be cut (it will never be eliminated) and maybe, just maybe, the kids would get a chance to actually learn something.
